CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Clearwater Threshers – the Philadelphia Phillies’ Florida State League affiliate – established a new single-season attendance record this season with 168,637 fans passing through the turnstiles at Bright House Field.

The team eclipsed the old mark of 166,359 that was set last season when 1,399 fans attended a day game against the Fort Myers Miracle on Sunday, August 24.

The Threshers have seen substantial attendance increases each season since the 2005 season.

John Timberlake, Director of Florida Operations for the Phillies, was pleased to see a record amount of fans once again visit the stadium this season.

"It is exciting that we have been able to continue to increase our attendance for the last few years. It really is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Threshers staff.
Moreover, the community continues to embrace the team and the venue. Our fans are fantastic and continue to come out in record numbers,” Timberlake said.

The team also established a new single-game attendance record when 9,090 fans visited Bright House Field on July 3 for a special fireworks extravaganza.

The third-largest crowd in club history filed through the gates on May 16 as 8,296 fans attended on Bright House Customer Appreciation Night. Three other large crowds allowed the team to establish five of the ten biggest crowds in team history.

The Phillies have had a longstanding presence in Clearwater, making the sunny location their Spring Training home for over 60 years. This season the Phillies set a new spring single-game attendance record when 10,178 fans watched them take on the Minnesota Twins on March 15.

The Phillies have also had a Florida State League team in Clearwater since 1985. The Clearwater Phillies played at Jack Russell Stadium from then until the move to Bright House Field in 2004.
